Management of missing maxillary anterior teeth with emphasis on autotransplantation.

چکیده
Over 40 years ago, Slagsvold and Bjercke developed a method of transplanting teeth with partly formed roots. After transplantation, root growth continues, and the teeth maintain their capacity for functional adaptation. Endodontic treatment is usually not necessary. The 3 main indications for autotransplantation of developing premolars are unevenly distributed multiple agenesis, agenesis of the mandibular second premolars in low-angle face types with normal or weak facial profiles, and accidentally lost or congenitally missing maxillary central and lateral incisors. Most traumatic injuries with accidental loss of maxillary incisors occur in children between 7 and 10 years of age. This makes autotransplantation of developing premolars an interesting treatment alternative. The optimal time for autotransplantation of premolars to the maxillary anterior region is when the root development has reached two thirds to three fourths of the final root length. The prognosis for complete periodontal healing at this stage of root development is better than 90%. Next to timing, the most important factors are the skill and experience of the surgeon

The report presents examples of successful cases of autotransplantation of ectopic teeth as donor in the treatment of clinically missing maxillary anterior teeth in young patients. The transplanted teeth were either severely ectopic, inverted, rotated or in an unfavourable position that they are commonly sacrificed as a result. Details of surgical technique as well as clinical and radiographic ...
متن کاملMissing anterior teeth: orthodontic closure and transplantation as viable options to conventional replacements
Traditional replacement options for missing maxillary incisors include implants and partial dentures. Although less well known among endodontists and general dentists, orthodontic space closure and autotransplantation of developing premolars may, however, constitute relevant alternatives. The challenge in treating patients with missing maxillary incisors and concomitant malocclusion is how to a...

AIM To present the 14 year follow-up of a case in which an avulsed permanent maxillary central incisor was replaced by autotransplantation of a mandibular premolar. SUMMARY A mandibular premolar (Moorrees' stage 3) was transplanted into the space left by an avulsed permanent maxillary central incisor after a delay of 3 months. Recall examination 14 years after transplantation revealed a norma...

The anterior maxilla is the most prone region to the trauma during childhood, and tooth loss sometimes happens due to trauma. Replacing the missing teeth has always been one of the dentists' challenges in children and adolescents, since their dentofacial growth is not complete. Autotransplantation of mandibular premolars with two-thirds or three-quarters of root formation provides the best prog...
